DRUGSTORE / AFFORDABLE FLAWLESS FACE MAKEUP ROUTINE

Hey everyone!

I decided to film a 'flawless face tutorial' using only affordable/drugstore products for my base. I have oily/combo skin so I like a look that still gives my skin a glow but prevents extra oils coming through. This is the type of look I would go for if I was going on a night out mainly as it looks great in pictures and really holds up throughout the entire night!

PS - after I edited this video I remembered that I normally only use the cornsilk loose powder in my tzone because it does give you flashback in photos, so maybe use another powder such as the rimmel stay matte powder if you want to set the rest of your face :)

Let me know in the comments if you'd like to see a similar routine but with a range of highend and affordable make up products!

ESSIE NAIL POLISH || SPIN THE BOTTLE

Essie Nail Polish 'Spin The Bottle'

After spending foreverrrrr trying to find the perfect nude nail polish I think I may finally have done it! I saw this on a youtube favourites video and rushed out to buy it, and its the Essie nail polish in the colour 'Spin the Bottle."

Whenever I've bought nude nail polishes in the past i've never been completely happy with them, they've always been either too pink or too dark/grey toned for my liking. This still has a slight pink tone to it but I love it! You do need two coats as one isn't enough. I always use a clear top coat and it lasts a reasonable amount of time before chipping, but not longer than a week.

I bought mine from Boots, in-store, for £7.99, which for me is a more expensive nail polish, I wouldn't really spend much more than that to be honest!  I don't normally pay too much for nail polishes because I don't notice a huge difference with formulations.

I couldn't find this nail polish on the Boots website but Superdrug also sell the Essie brand which I'll link down below :)

MAKEUP GEEK UK: EYESHADOW REVIEW

Hello everyone!

If you noticed recently a tonne of single eye shadows in Z Palettes in my spring makeup haul, well they're a brand I've been dying to try out for the longest time, Makeup Geek!

I ended up ordering 28 shadows, yes 28, I couldn't help myself haha! Plus I figured I would actually be saving money on the shipping by just buying them all at once. Does anyone else do that in their head to justify spending on makeup, clothes etc? I can't be the only one! But anyway I'm glad I did cause they're fab. I decided mainly to go for neutrals, plus a few bright colours and some foiled shadows that I knew would be perfect for nights out.

I ordered mine on April 3rd and was surprised when I received the package on April 9th, just in time for my post dissertation night out, bravo to Makeup Geek for getting then shipped so quickly! I was really nervous about how much tax I would be charged when they arrived in the UK as the last time I ordered makeup from the States (Gerard Cosmetics lip glosses) I was charged £11 on top of the original price, pretty steep for three lip glosses, plus this time round was a much bigger order. However, I received the package with no extra charges on top, phew. Doesn't get much better than that!

I absolutely loved the packaging when I opened it up, must be the cutest makeup package I've ever received haha, such a lovely touch!

After de-potting each eyeshadow out and popping them into a Z Palette I got to play around with a few that night. I've also been wearing them constantly for the past few weeks. Ah, they really do live up to the hype, just as good as Mac but half the price, pigmented, bendable and an enormous colour range. Hallelujah! I'm particularly impressed with the matte colours because I don't feel like we have a great selection of affordable drugstore single eyeshadows here in the UK, so these are prefect!

Once converted from dollars, the single eyeshadows work out at around £4 per shadow and the foiled are around £6.70, incredible for how good they are! Be warned, if your using darker shades you only need a tiny amount on your brush because they are so pigmented.

I also purchased the cheek highlight brush but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, I'm thinking it will be great for cream contouring darker shades.

I have an uploaded Youtube video using some of these shadows which you can check out if your interested in seeing them in action!

TOO FACED BETTER THAN SEX MASCARA REVIEW

I'm back today guys with a review of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, and while I'm not too sure about the name, this is better than all of the mascara's I've tried recently!

I've been wanting to try this mascara for quite some time now but it was out of stock on pretty much every UK website I could think of, luckily Debenhams have it back in stock with 10% off at the mo, go go go!

Normally it's £19 for this mascara but I still think I would repurchase it. If you love volumising mascaras over lengthening you'll adore this! It really adds that extra volume without being clumpy.

The wand is quite thick so you do have to be careful when applying it or it can end up all over your eyelid.

I love using this mascara on those mornings when your in a rush and want that va va voom effect quickly. Even if I don't have much time to apply my makeup in the morning, I still always like to really concentrate on my lashes, it makes such a difference!

I usually apply two coats of mascara anyway and I still do with this one, although you could definitely get away with just the one.

My only con with this mascara is that for me it just doesn't stay put so if you have oily skin and have trouble with mascara's smudging, beware! This might not be the one for you. For a daily basis I still really do like it though and will definitely continue to use it.

KAT VON D SHADE AND LIGHT PALETTE REVIEW

Hey guys,

I was recently lucky enough to get my hands on the Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette. I'm from the UK so this brand isn't easily accessible here but a friend of mine was visiting New York and knowing my makeup obsession asked me what I wanted from Sephora, such a gem!

Kat Von D Palette Display in Sephora

I decided to go for this palette after all the rave reviews and I felt the colours were much better for contouring than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, one colour in particular is much more grey toned and perfect for creating shadows on the face.

It cost me around £30 once converted from dollars but I think it was totally worth the price for how many shades you get. I also really love the packaging. Anything black, sleek and edgy is right up my street.

The palette contains 6 colours, three highlighting shades and three contouring/bronzing shades. I really enjoy it too because I can pretty much use every shade within the palette bar one (the bottom right shade.)

The top 3 shades from L to R are Levitation, Lyric and Lucid. I normally use a mix of Levitation and Lucid under my eyes to set my concealer and a mix of the three to set around my t-zone, it all really depends on how tanned I am, if my tan is wearing off I'll use Levitation more.

The bottom 3 shades from L to R are Subconscious, Shadowplay and Sombre. Subconscious is the prefect cool toned brown/grey for contouring, and I love Shadowplay to warm up the face, its a fantastic bronzer!

They are extremely powdery however and its easy to make a mess, if you've already purchased this you'll know what I'm talking about, every time I open up this palette there's powder everywhere! Although I'm slightly worried I'll burn through the shades pretty quickly, the powdery-ness makes them a dream to blend out, no muddy streaky lines for me from now on! I decided not to purchase the brush and just use my real techniques and morphe brushes with them.

If your undecided on whether to get this palette or not I would definitely recommend it, its great value for money!

SPRING MAKE UP HAUL

After finishing up my university dissertation a few weeks ago I went a bit cray cray and decided to treat myself to a whole bunch of new makeup. I did purchase a whole lot of this stuff during my endless hours in the library, not gonna lie, it very much fuelled my online shopping addiction! So expect to see a few reviews in the upcoming weeks :) If you own any of these products already, let me know in the comments below what you like/dislike!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm: 245 Audacious

Hi everyone!

So I'm back with another mini review, and you'll be happy to hear that not only is it a rave one, but it's affordable too!

I recently picked up one of the new the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm's in the colour Audacious. It's a bright orange coral colour and my favourite for the upcoming summer months, it's also the one Emma Stone wears in the adverts if you've seen it.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious

really was surprised by how pigmented this was, but unlike a matte lipstick this is super comfortable to wear and lasts a really long time before touch ups are needed. I normally hate mattes because they make my lips feel so chapped but this was great and only needs one swipe for full pigment on the lips.

I'll definitely be back in Boots to pick up a few more of these for summer, they have a range of bright colours and also nudes, so everyone's catered for! Plus, at only £7.99 it would be rude not to. I haven't tried the other finishes of the lip balms but I definitely will after finding this one so impressive. let me know down below in the comments if you've tried any and your thoughts!
