Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette Review

Hey everyone!

I wanted to do a quick post on the Ambient Lighting Palette from Hourglass. I picked this up a few months back, but it's a product I really love and would highly recommend!

So just to let you know right off the bat, this is probably one of the hardest products to describe as whatever I say probably won't do it justice! SpaceNK describe this product on their website as:

Powders capture, diffuse and soften the way light is reflected on skin, brighten the appearance, and conceal imperfections, pores and wrinkles. Unlike traditional powders that use opaque pigments, Ambient utilises "photoluminescent technology"-micron-size,soft-focus particles that refract light and create transparent coverage. Universal powders make them suitable for every skin tone.

Yup, don't worry, I'm just as confused by this description as you probably are!  All I can say really is that it gives an airbrushed, glow-y look to the skin unlike any other powder i've ever tried, it basically just makes you skin look flawless and amazing!

Normally with this product I use the two outer shades, Dim and Radiant Light around the perimeter of my face. I think most people use the two separately but I find mixing the two with a fluffy brush works really well. I then love using the middle shade Incandescent Light under the eyes and on the top of my cheekbones. It gives a really pretty glow to the skin without being like, 'wow- highlight!' if you know what I mean? haha. The real techniques setting brush works amazingly for this!

Although I have oily/combo skin this is still a product I use daily, just keeping it away from my tzone area. I know most people with this skin type would be slightly terrified of a product like this but i find my method of applying it works really well. Plus if your oily and looking for a good highlighter that isn't going to look too intense then one of the individual ambient lighting palettes I think would definitely work for you since there's no intense glitter/shimmer in the powder. Incandescent Light is probably my favourite everyday highlight because its not too intense and looks super natural! No disco balls over here with this product ;)

Pretty much the only downside I would say with this product is the price at a whopping £56 from SpaceNK, but I do think it is worth it for the amount of product you get. I've been using this for a few months now and haven't made a dent in any of the shades (hence in my mind this justifies the extortionate pricing! ha.)

If you are thinking of picking up the ambient lighting powders I would definitely suggest going for the palette as it's much better value for money with the individual shades coming in at £38 a pop, and while you do get more product with the individual shades, like I said, it would take you foreverrrr to get through one of these even in the smaller palettes!

Next up on my list is the ambient lighting blushes but SpaceNK have been sold out of them for quite a while now, although I have heard that Hourglass are releasing a special limited edition christmas palette including the powders, blushes and bronzers. Glow heaveennnn! So excited about this and will definitely be picking one up even if it does cost an arm and a leg. Fingers crossed it's released in the UK as well as America! :D

If you've tried these powders let me know down below what you think of them. Or if you have any favs from the blush or bronzer line I'd love to hear what they are so I know what to look out for next time I'm shopping!

Have a great weekend guys!

xxxxx
