So I mentioned last week that I got back from a holiday in Egypt last month. If your thinking of going or are still in the process of deciding where to jet off to this summer (which I don't blame you for, Scotland has been a total wash out of a summer!!) then I would definitely recommend it!
I went with my family since this is probably one of the last holidays we'll all have together for a while and most definitely the last one my parents will pay for! *cries* :'(
We went to the holiday resort Sharm El-Sheikh and I was extremely surprised when we first arrived. Sharm is pretty much just a holiday resort, with one side of the airport (next to the sea) a line of hotels and the other side complete desert.

Our hotel, the Royal Albatros Moderna (here's the trip advisor link incase you want to check it out! - http://bit.ly/LWgh6s ) was amazing and had everything you could ever want/ask for in an all inclusive hotel and the staff were incredible, always chatty and smiling while working exhausting hour, and to top it off it was Ramadan so they must've been even more knackered than usual! It even had it's own beach and jetty where my dad and younger sister were brave enough to go snorkelling in the Red Sea. There was even a camel named Bob Marley chilling down on the sea front.

It had been the usual yearly struggle when deciding where to jet off to since it can be hard to find the balance between my mum's ideal holiday of sitting around a pool somewhere hot for two weeks, and my sister's and I's ideal holiday which is packed with activities to do and sights to see! My dad's normally pretty easy either way, I think that's what happens when your surround by a house full of girls haha.
Hence why we settled on Egypt. There's just so much to do there in terms of trips and activities! We ended up booking two trips through Falcon excursions - which I would highly recommend, great staff and cheaper than the hotel booking prices! (http://www.falconadventure.com/sharm-excursions) - and decided to go for the glass bottom boat trip and the quad biking, stargazing and dinner in the desert.
The glass bottom boat was pretty cool and a great way to see the amazing coral reefs and colourful, tropical fish if your're like me and totally terrified of snorkelling/fish/the sea haha. The Red Sea's really famous for its scuba diving so I was glad I hadn't missed out completely on that experience!

We also had a really good time visiting the markets Soho Square and Naama Bay. We all much preferred Naama Bay because it felt more Egyptian-y, if that makes sense? haha. It basically was what you would imagine one of these markets to be like, while Soho square was a more expensive version of the markets set in a Westernised style of outdoor shopping centre where the haggling was pretty non existent compared to Naama Bay. So if you do take a trip, I would say visit Soho Square but buy and haggle at Naama!

My mum's already been looking at booking up for next year again- so you know it must be pretty good for her to want to go to the same place twice!
If you're thinking of going and have any questions please leave them down below and I'll get back to you! :)
